Parameter Identification Guide: Ensuring Compatibility for Your Controller

To ensure compatibility and seamless performance, confirming the parameters of your original controller is crucial. Even with the same part number, there can be variations in internal voltage and throttle types, leading to situations where the part number matches, but the controller remains incompatible with the vehicle. Therefore, accurate parameter identification is of utmost importance. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of determining the basic parameters of your original controller to ensure a smooth replacement experience.

 

Situation 1: Known Parameters

If you already know the exact voltage, current, and throttle type of your original controller, kindly inform our customer service team, and we will proceed accordingly.

Situation 2: Identifying Parameters through Testing

  1. Checking the Current:
The original controller's label typically displays the model number and current. Refer to the following figure to locate this information:

  1. Finding the Voltage:
Replacement controllers require a precise voltage value, but the label of the original controller provides a range rather than an exact value. To determine the voltage accurately, please follow these steps:
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage between the controller's J2 and J3 connectors (or J1 and J3, depending on how they are wiredoriginally) while the controller is installed in the cart. The reading will provide the voltage data. See the picture below for reference:multimeter-voltage-J2J3-long
  1. Identifying the Throttle Type:
Identifying the throttle type of your original controller is essential to ensure compatibility with the replacement. Below are the two methods you can use to determine the throttle type accurately.
Method 1: Checking the Potentiometer Throttle Label
Check the label above the potentiometer throttle (foot pedal) your vehicle. You may find relevant information indicating the throttle type. See the picture below for reference:

Method 2: Observing the Original Wiring Status
Follow these steps to identify the throttle type based on the controller's original wiring status:

A. If only J1 and J3 are connected, the throttle type is 0-5V.

B. If all three wires (J1, J2, and J3) are connected, it can be 0-5K or 5K-0. In this case, measure the resistance value change between J2 and J3 with a multimeter while stepping on the throttle to observe theresistance change.

a. If the resistance changes from small to large, the throttle type is 0-5K.

b. If the resistance changes from large to small, the throttle type is 5K-0.

Situation 3: Using a 1313-4331 Programmer

If you have a 1313-4331 programmer, you can directly connect the controller with the programmer to view the voltage, current, and throttle type.curtis programmer
